Easter Sunday

Easter was such a fun day of celebrating for our family this year. It was really Gavin's first year of "participating" in the Easter festivities. And, for Caylin, it is always so exciting to see how much more she is understanding about our holidays and family traditions and why we do them!

The day started with a quick morning breakfast and then little hunt for the Easter baskets.

Then, it was time to get all dressed up and ready to go to church! Even though we spent lots of time talking about what Easter is REALLY ABOUT all week, it was so fun to see Caylin so excited about God's and Jesus' love shown for us on Easter!

After a small lunch and much needed rest time (we were all still recovering from a busy spring break week), we headed to Dave and Joan Wolf's house (you know DAVE and JOAN) to meet up with Gma and Gpa Brown for the traditional Easter egg hunt and dinner. Our numbers may have been few this year (we missed big cousins Nik, Maddy and Trent), Caylin and Gavin were mighty in their hunting! I think it might have been the power of the Peeps (check out those hat!) that helped them find so many eggs.

Gavin was not too sure what this whole thing was all about at first. But, it did not take much for him to catch on. In no ti me he was find the eggs, busting them open and collecting the treasures that were inside. Thankfully for us, much of the treasure was of the coin and not candy variety. Don't be too concerned, however. The Brown children (and parents) got more than their fair share of sweet treats from the many GrandBunnies that we love dearly!

Makin the Easter eggs

Thanks to Ama Flo, we've got lots of fun pictures of the egg painting fun last Friday.

This is Caylin's egg decorating hair style, apparently!

Spring Break and Easter Egg fun

During my spring break, Tim was able to take most of the week off. So, we decided to do a few things in the area before heading to PA for a few days. On tuesday we took a metro ride to the National Zoo. While riding the metro was exciting in and of its self, the kids had lots of fun seeing the animals too.

Carrie liked seeing the panda bear the best

Gavin seemed to have the most fun roaring with the lion cubs.

Wednesday we drove up to PA to visit with my family. We spent some time at the Hands on House Thursday. (pictures to follow in the next post)

On Friday Caylin got to paint Easter eggs with her Schmoel cousins while Gavin napped. Then they all had a great time playing and laughing and entertaining Pappy and Gma Gish. (again, picks to follow)

On Saturday we stopped in to visit their Gpa and Nanny Arndt before heading back to VA to celebrate Easter. We were glad to be able to see uncle Neat too!

Hand on Fun!

Last week, while on spring break, Daddy, Moma, Caylin, and Gavin headed to the Hand on House Children's museum for a visit. We figured since Tim ran in their 5k this past fall, we should make it a point to actually take the kids there at some point.
